Abundant Life Church was founded in June 1989 by Pastor George Powell and his wife, Ann, at the invitation of the Northwest Christian Evangelistic Association. In 1995 the church purchased 11 acres on SE 172nd and Hemrick Road. After 15 years of meeting in numerous rental locations, the church moved into her first facility in March 2004. Completion of phase 2 in June 2006 provided a state-of-the-art children's and student ministries facility, as well as expanded lobby space and a new Life Café espresso shop. In April of 2008 (Easter Sunday) Abundant Life opened the doors of its second campus in the Parkrose Community. This campus marked the beginning of the multi-site adventure that God has laid before us, so that we as a church can continue the mission of reaching as many people as possible for Jesus Christ. Abundant Life launched a third campus in Sandy, Oregon in October 2010. The Sandy Campus meets at Mt. Hood Athletic Club. More importantly than where we've been, however, is where we are going! We celebrate what God has done in the past but look forward with even greater anticipation to all He wants to do through us in the future.

To be a growing church so enthusiastic for Christ and filled with faith that thousands are coming every week, buildings are continually bulging at the seams, and new and innovative ways are being discovered to penetrate this city and our world for Christ. To be a life-giving church where masks can be dropped, people can be real, and healing and wholeness can be found. To be a devoted church whose people have been apprehended by God's purposes and can do nothing less than serve with joyful attitudes, give with sacrificial hearts, and tell the Good News with eager enthusiasm. To be a heart transforming church where worship of God is not a service but an experience, and His message more than spoken, but visualized through creative, technological, and artistic expression. To be a sending church raising up men and women excited for God, enthusiastic for ministry, and devoted to going wherever He may lead, be it here at home or to the farthest reaches of the earth.
