Who is Charly Gynn?

Charly Gynn is a Mexican performer, songwriter and the co-founder of Tempvs Music, a record label distributed by Believe since June 2021. She’s also currently one of the leading figures in Mexican Reggaetón.

Released on July 26th, 2024, her debut album La Matatana features major local and international performers – such as El Bogueto, Kaydy Cain and Big Metra – and producers from the local Reggaetón scene like Tensec, Tzunami and Jace Kimura.

To amplify the album launch, Believe Mexico’s Label & Artists Solutions team offered Charly Gynn a tailor-made audience development g campaign that propelled her single “Funa” to the top of the charts with over 2 million streams.

CONTEXT

With the rising wave of “Reggaetón Mexa” in recent years and the growing popularity of Charly Gynn, the momentum was there to make an impact.

The campaign officially kicked off on March 1, 2024, with the release of the single “Caldo.” But before that, the LAS Believe Mexico team laid the groundwork by familiarizing streaming platforms with Charly Gynn and strengthening their relationships.

STRATEGY

Artist’s involvement in the campaign was as crucial as strongly planned editorial work.

Leveraging the buzz around Reggaetón Mexa, the Believe Mexico team pitched Charly Gynn’s project to DSPs like Spotify, Deezer, and Claro Musica very early on, thus securing many online editorial activations: “Funa” appearing in 21 different playlists and 6 playlist covers across all platforms.

RESULTS

Reinforcing Charly Gynn’s relationships with DSPs proved right. For instance, she was named Spotify’s EQUAL ambassador and was included in Trebel Music’s female empowerment program “Altavoz”

Since its release, La Matatana has topped 2 million streams on Spotify, with the lead single ‘Funa’ topping 1 million streams on Spotify alone, where Charly also had a +115.1% increase in followers over 6 months.
